With over 25 years experience, we can provide a full range of floor treatment services for hardwood floors, and have built up an enviable reputation for expertise and quality workmanship over this time.

We specialise in custom wood floors through the southern South Island.

Stephen, the owner will supervise each job, and all our staff have a solid reputation.

Homeowners, landlords, lodges, restaurants, hotels, builders, architects, councils, schools, pre- schools, wineries, galleries, clubs and pubs are just some of the people and places that have benefited from having their floors done by Wanaka Wood Floors – some under our previous trading name Wanaka Floorsanders.

We are also a Recommended Repairer for a number of New Zealand Insurance Companies.

Meet Our Team

Stephen Blackley Owner, Wooden Floorsander and Craftsman

Stephen has been in the timber flooring trade for over 30 years and has a wealth of experience and expertise.
Prior to setting up in Wanaka over twelve years ago, Stephen learnt his trade in Wellington and owned a floorsanding business, working on many large projects including Te Papa, Embassies, school halls and governments contracts, alongside restored villas and other residential work.
He keeps his trade current and at the leading edge of technology through the National Wood Floors of America (NWFA) workshops and annual conference in the USA and at the Australian Timber Flooring Association (ATFA) workshops in Australia. He attends and supports industry updates within New Zealand.

Lewis Wright Builder and Wooden Floor Craftsman

Lewis has been with us for over ten years. He is a qualified builder and true craftsman with wood, and oversees the majority of the laying of timber floors. Lewis is a specialist in bespoke stairs and other custom wood finishes.

Libby Blackley Admin & Finances

Libby manages the office, accounts and invoicing for Wanaka Wood Floors Ltd and is a Director in the company.

Other Team Members: Ben Chant a qualified flooring tradesman from England. Jack Williams – Year 2 Apprentice -learning the trade.
