Wanaka Wood Floors ensuring you have quality wood floors for a lifetime…

Most timber floors require minimum maintenance, if looked after correctly. Keep them dust free and remove any spills straight away to avoid stains.  I use a dry mop daily to keep my floors dust and grime free. Use rugs in heavy traffic areas.

Generally – a damp mop and specialised cleaner is all you need to clean your floors. We sell cleaning product in our online shop below or through Wanaka Wood Floors showroom. The specifics of cleaning your wood floor depends on the finish of your floor.  See the boxes below for details on how to clean  your floor finish.

Care for your Polyurethane Finish Wood Floors

Regular cleaning and floor care is the best way to keep your Polyurethane Finish Wood Floors looking fresh and beautiful, if matt or gloss. Follow our recommendations to get a wood floor you can enjoy for a long time to come.

Polyurethane Finish Wood Floors

Polyurethane is one of the most common wood surface treatments. It is available in several gloss levels from completely matt to glossy. A polyurethane  floor is highly resistant to abrasion and chemicals. This includes pre-finished floors. There are two types of polyurethane we use – water based and moisture cured. It is important that you clean and maintain your polyurethane wood floors in the right way, depending on which finish your floors have.

We recommend Bona Cleaner for water based polyurethane finish and Finacare Floor Cleaning Concentrate for floors finished with moisture-cured polyurethane.

Care for your Hardwax Oil finished Wood Floors

Regular cleaning and floor care is the best way to keep your hardwax oiled wood floors looking fresh and beautiful. Follow our recommendations to get a wood floor you can enjoy for a long time to come.

Hardwax Oil Finished Wood Floors

Treatment with floor wax protects against wear and tear and gives the same look and warmth provided by wood oil. The waxed surface makes the wood floor more resistant to chemicals and wear than an oiled floor. It can be difficult to see and feel the difference between a waxed and an oiled floor. Often a waxed wood feels softer and a little more slippery than an oiled wood floor.

We recommend the use of Bona Soap to clean your Hardwax finished floor

Care for your Oiled Wood Floors

Regular cleaning and floor care is the best way to keep your oiled wood floors looking fresh and beautiful. Follow our recommendations to get a wood floor you can enjoy for a long time to come.

About wood oil

Treatment with wood oil is occasionally used.  Wood floors treated with oil bring out the wood’s natural character and warmth. Wood oil doesn’t give any direct protection against wear but helps to repel water. It’s a good idea to think about which rooms are suitable for oiled wood floors.
It can be difficult to see and feel the difference between an oiled wood floor and a hardwax oiled wood floor. A hardwax oiled wood floor is softer and a little more slippery than oiled wood floors, yet with a hard sealed finish. Never use water to clean an oiled floor.
We recommend Bona Cleaner for Oiled Floors and Bona Wax Oil Refresher.
